UNITED FANS ECSTATIC AFTER LATE LATE SHOW

Last updated : 18 January 2004 By United Mad

Arabs were over the moon yesterday after Billy Dodds sank an injury time penalty to breaks Dons’ hearts.

United were trailing 2-1 with only 15 minutes to go when Charlie Miller was brought on as sub. A few minutes later he nodded in a Robson corner to equalise for the Terrors. Most Arabs would have settled for a point at this stage, and most Dons certainly would have! However, Miller, who had been taunted throughout the game by Aberdeen fans (many of whom were arrested it has to be said) used all his experience to gain a penalty in the dying seconds. Billy Dodds, ex-Aberdeen himself, stepped up and slotted the ball home to earn United all three points, and send the Arab faithful home delighted.

On balance United deserved their victory, having been the better side through the majority of the game.

Dundee derby next week, and more of the same will see United firmly pushing for a top-six place.

Final score. 3-2 United.
