CHAIRMAN ISSUES STATEMENT

Last updated : 08 December 2004 By United Mad

Our chairman had a meeting on Monday with Ian McCall. Afterwards the following statement was issued:

Eddie Thompson said, “Obviously, considerable concern has been expressed by Dundee United fans relating to recent results and the Club’s current position in the Premier League. I would like to make it clear to all our supporters that the current situation is unacceptable both to myself and the United Board.

“Ian McCall and I today discussed the concerns of myself and the Board. The manager is therefore under no doubt as to what is acceptable and what is not at the Club and he agrees that things have to improve. There is no way that we can allow ourselves to be in a similar situation as the season progresses towards its conclusion. However, the manager has confirmed that, with the resources that we have made available to him, he is confident that we will improve on recent results and move up the league table.

“I believe strongly that the Dundee United supporters are the lifeblood of our club and therefore need to know the feelings of those who run the Club. Hence the reason for this statement.

“On a separate note, this weekend we face Kilmarnock at Tannadice. I would ask our fans to come out in numbers to give the kind of encouragement and support to the manager and the team that will give us that extra edge over our opponents in what will be another vital game for us.”
