ArabTRUST given Associate Directorship of Dundee United FC

ArabTRUST confirmed today that Dundee United FC has invited a representative from the Supporters Society to become an Associate Director of the club.

The news follows the Trust’s announcement of a significant share purchase in the SPL club and is seen as yet another milestone in the swift growth and progress of the Trust. Thirteen months after the Trust’s official launch, a representative of the supporters’ society, democratically elected by the ArabTRUST Society Board, will be able to carry the views of its members to the Tannadice Boardroom in an official capacity, on a regular an ongoing basis.

Mike Barile, the first elected Chair of ArabTRUST, has become the first Trust representative to occupy the Associate Director’s position. Mike was selected after presentations to the Society Board by three candidates, and a confidential ballot of the Society’s Board.

Speaking about his appointment today Barile, a Maths teacher at Madras College in St. Andrews, commented “The Trust is delighted to have received the invitation of this Associate Directorship from the Club, and on a personal level, I am equally delighted to have been appointed as the Trust’s first representative in this role. I am in this role as a representative of all ArabTRUST members, and through our ongoing consultation process with our members, this will allow ordinary fans in the Club to have a contribution in the decision-making process in the Club.”

In accepting the role of representing ArabTRUST in the role of Associate Director, Mike Barile has stepped down from his responsibilities as Chairperson of the Supporters’ Trust, and until the Society Board meet to appoint his successor, which will be announced in due course.
