ArabTRUST Announces Further Share Purchase

Last updated : 19 August 2004 By ArabTRUST

The Trust, which was launched in February 2003 by United supporters, has been regularly increasing its shareholding from the initial 10 shares donated by United Chairman Eddie Thompson.

This further purchase makes the Trust the 6th largest shareholder in the Club. The original Business Plan of the Trust aimed to reach this position within three years, but such has been the success of ArabTRUST, this position has been reached in half this time, in only 18 months.

Scott Simpson, Acting Chair of the Trust, said “This further purchase gives the Trust, and therefore its members, even further influence in the decision-making process of the Club.”

He continued, “Again, we have to give thanks to our ever-growing number of members for not only signing up to the Trust, but also for supporting us through attending Trust events, such as the Scottish Cup 10th Anniversary evening, and purchasing merchandise.

“Whilst we have progressed significantly quicker than our original plans, we need to continue with this momentum, and if we can sustain this performance as a Trust, we can not only consider further share purchases, but also invest in local youth and community football development, which is another of our key objectives”.
