The 2nd ArabTRUST Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 27th September at Tannadice. A great turnout of over 85 members were present to hear Acting Chairperson Scott Simpson brief them about the Supporters Trust’s significant progress over the last year, where they have purchased an additional 723 shares, and invested in Youth and Community initiatives to overtake the planned position on all fronts. The Trust’s Secretary, Treasurer and representative Associate Director also gave reports to the members.

Changes to the ArabTRUST Society Board were also announced, with Kenn Elder, Rab Lyon, Mark Allan and Ian Blair all appointed to the Society Board, and current Board members Mark Dorward and Gary Torbet standing down. The Office Bearers for the next year were also confirmed to be:

Chair: Scott Simpson, Vice Chair: Kenn Elder, Treasurer: David Dorward, Secretary: Ian Blair

Following the AGM, Eddie Thompson, Ian McCall, and Derek Robertson from Dundee United were present to hold a Question and Answer session with members of the Supporters Trust. Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson gave a brief address, updating Trust members on areas of “off-field” activity at the Club, including the new Club Shop on Tannadice Street.

Trust members were then given the opportunity to pose questions to the officials, and a number of questions on the results, players and recent signings were answered by team’s manager, Ian McCall. The Manager reassured the Trust members that he remains confident that despite some recent setbacks, the end of season position will be much improved on the current league position.

Eddie Thompson closed the meeting by thanking the Trust members present for their support of the Trust, and the subsequent support of the Club which that has brought for all aspects of the Club, both on and off the pitch.

“It was good to have this opportunity to report back in some detail to our members. We’ve achieved a lot in the last year, and having the opportunity to align our future plans with our members’ views is crucial”, said Scott Simpson, ArabTRUST Chair.

He continued, “We thought combining the AGM with a Q&A session with the Club would help attract people, but we were delighted with the response from our members.

Attracting members to an AGM is never an easy thing, so to have filled the room with almost 100 members in the audience was great”.
