ArabTRUST Act on Fans' Suggestion

ArabTRUST announced today that in association with the Federation of Dundee United Supporters’ Clubs, they will be looking for fans to make donations prior to Sunday’s match against Dundee, with the money raised being used to cover any shortfall in revenue due to non-attending Dundee fans at Tannadice.

Neil Glen, Chairman of the Dundee United Supporters’ Society, indicated today that following the approaches of United fans to them, ArabTRUST have decided to act on the idea of a special fund being collected to be donated to the Club .

“This is a fans’ initiative geared to limit any shortfall due to lower ticket revenue from away fans. Our members have indicated their wish to show solidarity by raising money to limit this shortfall, and as a result, ArabTRUST along with the Federation will be collecting donations prior to the match on Sunday”, he said.

Mr Glen continued, “Despite yesterday’s announcement that Dundee are to remain at Dens next season, it was yesterday reported that only around 1,000 away tickets had been sold, which would still indicate a far lower away support than normal.”

ArabTRUST have made it clear that all funds they raise on Sunday will be handed over to
Dundee United, with United fans set to benefit in return.

Mr Glen informed, “In accordance with discussions ArabTRUST have previously has with Eddie Thompson and the
Dundee United Board, Mr Thompson has indicated that shares in the club will be released in exchange for funds handed over by the Trust.”

“Effectively, any monies donated by Arabs on Sunday will lead to United fans being granted a larger shareholding in the club. All ArabTRUST members will collectively own these shares, so there is even more benefit for fans signing up to become an ArabTRUST member, as this is the opportunity for the fans to collectively share in the ownership of the Club.”

Volunteers from both supporters’ organisations, including the ArabTRUST Board, will be out in force in front of the entrances to both the East Stand and the George Fox Stand, and will be clearly visible for fans wishing to donate some funds on their way into the ground.
