UNITED V CLYDE

Tonight United host the boys from Clyde, currently resting atop the Scottish First Division, and this will be prove, I feel, a tricky tie for Dundee United.

First choice ‘keeper Tony Bullock is sidelined for several weeks after breaking his collar bone in the loss at Motherwell over the weekend, and due to this, United have recalled Paul Jarvie, who was on loan at Forfar, back into the squad. New signing Canadian International ‘keeper Lars Hirschfield will now be between the sticks for the foreseeable future, and, as it turns out, has proved to be a valuable signing in view of Bullock’s injury (no disrespect to Jarvie there).

Still sidelined, as they will be for weeks to come, are Paul Ritchie and Scott Paterson – hardly news there, as Scott Paterson has been out for over a year, whilst Ritchie got himself injured ten minutes into his debut. Seems a shame that we have so many top players with injuries. This is an excuse used too readily by managers I think, but in Ian McCall’s case it’s actually true. Woeful luck. Still, when they are all back – all will be well.

United need a victory tonight to boost morale after a faltering start to the league campaign though it will be tough –
Clyde are a tasty outfit.
