Robertson on the goal trail

Robertson has not found the net since facing Falkirk in December 2008 and while most of that is to do with having suffered a series of injury problems, the 25-year-old knows he has to start weighing in with goals now his fitness is back.

"I want to start scoring again as soon as possible - simple as that," said Robertson. "It is nearly two years since I last scored a goal. Some of that is down to the fact I've been injured but I still want to change that."

United have been relying on striker David Goodwillie to find the net for them and the youngster has scored eight times in his last 10 matches.

But Robertson is mindful they cannot look to just one man all the time and, after suffering near misses in the games against Motherwell and Hamilton recently, he is ready to locate St Mirren's goal in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash at Tannadice on Wednesday night

"Like any player, I do enjoy scoring goals and I'm looking to get back to doing that sort of thing because I was doing quite well round about that time," he added.

"I have been back in the team recently and I've had a few chances to get on the scoresheet. I had another one in Saturday's win at Hamilton which I definitely should have done better with.

"I would be worried if I wasn't getting into those kind of scoring positions but I'm sure I'll hit the back of the net soon enough. You've got to miss them to score them.

"I'm feeling stronger with each game, getting more confident as well in what I'm doing.

"That's all to do with getting game-time under my belt after all I've been through. All it needs is for one to drop for me and hopefully I can stick it away to go on a wee goal run again."
