RIVALS DITCHES ITS SCOTTISH SITES

Last updated : 24 April 2002 By NottinghamArab
If the above is true, and general opinion, including some Rivals webmasters opinions, would suggest that it IS true, it will be a great loss to the internet football community in Scotland, as Rivals was THE network. Of course money is the reason – there can be no other. Rivals is a business and they simply don't generate enough income from their Scottish section. However it does surprise me that their Old Firm sites are to close – surely they must some of the busiest on the entire network? Anyway, this is all speculation of course – it's closing, for whatever reasons, and I for one will be sorry to see it go. As a regular on the Rivals Utd site for the last season, I have met many people, and made many friends. It's messageboard network was second to none, and the fun and banter we had on their will be remembered for the rest of my life.

There's an old adage that goes ‘As one door closes another door opens', and no doubt those famous Scottish messageboard posters will find somewhere else to post. Anyone who's posted on those boards over the last year or two will never forget the names of Wishae Arab, Lochee Arab, Curve Ball, Dave Webster, Stan Gateer et al, and these are just the good guys! There are dozens more of course, all well known, and I'm sure all will congregate somewhere else. The likely contenders at this stage to become the next popular messageboard are this very site, which has a solid network like Rivals, including English sites, and SPLFever, as both have messageboards up and running – ready and waiting so to speak. My opinion is that both sites will end up competing, which can only be a good thing.

Bye bye Rivals Arab board – I will miss you very very dearly.
