“I felt we should have won it," he said. "I thought we were the better side and had the better chances in the first half.
“I thought we were in the ascendancy in the second half and we went to win it. Even at 1-1 we were going for it.
“We wanted to get the winner as it was important for us. The fans played a big part in it.
“I am just proud of the players and the way they responded after the weekend when we were disappointing.
“If we can keep that level up, the commitment and desire we showed tonight with 10 men then we should have a successful season.
“I think we deserved at least a point. We could have had the three points but unfortunately we didn’t.”
