Houston in dark over Motherwell team

With the Scottish Cup final fast approaching, Well manager Stuart McCall may be tempted to tinker with his squad to ensure he gets his team to Hampden in one piece. Houston knows all about the dilemmas he will be facing after being in a similar position 12 months ago.

But with United still in with an outside chance of catching Hearts in third place, their season is far from winding down and victory is crucial.

Houston said: "I don't know what Stuart will do with his team selection this weekend because he'll have the final in his mind. I know from last season what I did because you want to make sure you get there with all your best players fit.

"Motherwell can't go any higher in the league so the temptation might be to leave a few out. But I can't speak for Stuart, we'll just have to wait and see what he does.

"They have been doing very well, they are a team of solid professionals with some very talented players. They have beat us a few times this season and we got the better of them at Tannadice the last time. We are still in with a shout of third place if Hearts slip up so we won't be taking our foot off the gas. The boys know that we have to win all three games to give ourselves a chance so that's what we'll be trying to do."
