Dundee United hope to finalise a deal for the out-of-contract Cheltenham full-back Will Ferry over the coming days.
Jim Goodwin is set to beat off interest from both sides of the border to land the 23-year-old.
Goodwin has been trying to sign the Ireland international defender since the club won promotion back to the Premiership.
