Latest Transfer Speculation

As the close season lumbers sleepily towards the end of its first week (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz), speculation as to potential signings continues to drip out of the tap of information from various sources. The latest suggestion to hit the streets is that United could be interested in some sort of swap plus cash deal that would see Noel Hunt arrive at Tannadice with Jim McIntyre heading in the opposite direction.

The benefit of such a deal to United is obvious because as things stand, they would require to pay compensation should they capture the out of contract Hunt. More importantly it would see the removal of McIntyre's fairly substantial wage from the wage bill. There also remains the possibility that Greg Shields may end up at Tannadice with both Brewster and the player keen to see this happen.  Dunfermline, however, are holding out for a substantial cash settlement if they are to lose one of their more promising players.

Rumours suggest that David Fernandez is interesting Falkirk. This deal seems set to again hinge on whether the player can settle his pay off with United. Local Papers attribute an unnamed club with interest in Derek McInnes and no interest has so far been declared in Paul Ritchie or Grant Brebner.

Brewster has confirmed that he would like to bring Ranger's Bob Malcolm to the club citing his versatility as a main reason. He does, however, accept that any deal would first depend on the views of Paul Le Guen and the role he sees Malcolm playing at Tannadice.

With regards to the Goalkeeping position, it is simply a case of wait and see who is available for the Manager at the moment, although message board rumours suggest United have been given permission to discuss the situation with Celtic Goalkeeper David Marshall.

As the early bird season ticket deadline looms, there will no doubt be some form of transfer activity to stimulate interest in next season and it really is simply a case of wait and see for us Arabs.
