Chico, Time......to leave

As Dundee United get ready to bid goodbye to On loan star Charlie Mulgrew, manager Craig Brewster believes that not only united have gained something from this deal. It is his belief that Celtic are getting a much improved and more experienced defender.

Mulgrew's performances have been one of the few bright spots on a dissapointed second half to the season. He won the supporters' young player of the year award despite only joining in January and his set-piece deliveries have been straight out of the top drawer.

Speaking to the Courier, Brewster had the following to say:

“Charlie has done brilliantly for us,” he said.

“This club gave him the opportunity to play first-team football so it has worked out well for him too.

“Also, Celtic will be getting back a player who has had five months' worth of Premierleague experience.

“It is not for me to say he is ready to go straight into their first team—that is up to Gordon Strachan—but he certainly showed he can play at this level.

“So the loan deal has worked out well and it has maybe shown it is a good way to go—it's something to look at.”

Once thing that all United supporters will agree upon is that Charlie Mulgrew will be remembered with fondness for his contribution to the club this season although the thought of him playing those set peices in on top of our defence has this fan already concerned.

All the best Charlie.
