Rangers preview by Wishae Arab

Well casting aside the boardroom events this week (more of them in another article) I’m afraid that even a full blown overdose of optimism pills can’t persuade me that we’re not in for a humping against the forces of darkness tomorrow.

Although the result against Queens Park on Tuesday was highly satisfactory, the defensive frailties that have plagued us all season were there for all to see, and despite Alex Smith’s surprise dropping of McGowne and Griffin from the squad, the worst team in Scotland showed us up at times.

At least finishing wasn’t an issue, with young O’Donnell surely staking a claim to be included in the starting eleven. Charlie Miller is available again, after suspension, and I am fairly sure he will feature from the start, probably at the expense of Gunlauggson, who was my choice for man of the match on Tuesday night.

Thompson took his goal well, though he really has to get over this notion he seems to have that everyone on the East Stand is out to get him! His post-goal celebration was a bit OTT to say the least!

So struggling for a minute to find something positive to say about the match, as this will keep West Coast Arab off my back on the bus to Dundee, the bottom line has to be that the Infirm “don’t like it up them”. If I hear Alex Smith say in his prematch interview that we’re going to “try to contain them” then I will fear the worst.

When we went to Ibrox the season before last and played 3 up front it demonstrated how to play against the Huns! So to quote one of the “characters” on the Weegie Arabs’ bus, it’s got to be “attack, attack, attack”.

As to the result? Well I feel a dose of reality creeping in and have to say that anything less than three goals conceded will be considered a good result. Let’s hope I’m totally wrong and we hump them 1-0 but sadly I just can’t see that happening.
