NEWS ROUND UP WEDNESDAY 5TH OCTOBER

Last updated : 05 October 2005 By United Mad

Lee Miller and Colin Samuel netted in a 2-1 victory at Almondvale in the reserve league on Tuesday. United fielded: McLean, Callaghan (Cameron 87), Easton, Dodds, Kenneth, Gardiner, Samuel, Duff, Miller, McInnes, Goodwillie (Cameron 66). Subs not used: Samson, Abbot, Burnett.

Euan McLean apparently had an excellent game between the sticks in a game United thoroughly deserved to win. The next reserve league fixture is away to Rangers, at Clyde’s Broadwood stadium on 17/10/05 – kick off is 2pm.

Chisholm Thinks Samuel Is At Last ‘Ready To Shine’

We appreciate the sentiment, and we are glad that one of our players is finally showing signs of the promise he has so often hinted at but never fully fulfilled – however, in a dose on the Ian McCallism’s Gordon proclaimed...(From ‘the Courier’)

“Samuel has been at Tannadice for over two years without establishing himself as a serious contender for a regular starting spot.

However, Chisholm reckons he has finally come to grips with the requirements of the job.

“I see positive signs from Collin,” said the Tangerines manager yesterday.

“Before he was like Forrest Gump: they’d just shout, ‘Run Collin’—and he did.

“But he has learned to link up and become a team player and is now using his pace properly.

“I really think he can make a contribution to the side.”

Not the best analogy I’ve ever seen, and maybe a wee hint of the kind of banter that goes on in the dressing room – where it should have possibly stayed! (Read full story here)
