Motherwell Preview By Wishae Arab

Well after the performance at Parkhead last week it’s time to face Motherwell at Tannadice in our fourth game of the season.

A lot has been said about the game last week, and many are calling for Smith’s replacement – some immediately and others, myself included, are calling for him to be given a little more time – though exactly how much is a matter of some debate.

It does worry me that Smith felt that we should have gone into the Celtic game with 4 points from our opening 2 fixtures: I genuinely felt that a target of six points from the two opening games was more in line with our aspirations (echoed by Smith himself) of a top six finish.

However here we are, almost propping up the table, with a solitary goal to show for our efforts. Talking of that goal – didn’t Thommo take it well? Last season he would have missed that opportunity, and in my view if we could find someone from our burgeoning supply of strikers to partner him up front then the goals could start flowing.

Surely Smith will field a more attacking starting eleven than the one fielded last week – I’m looking for starting places for Paterson, Smart and Gunlauggson, and won’t be surprised if Miller drops to the bench to make way.

I’ve not predicted a starting eleven correctly so far this season so I’ll give up on that one, preferring to predict a resounding 1-0 win for the Tangerines, to set us up nicely for the derby the next week!
