Hibs preview by Wishae Arab

Well one puncture and four of the five goals later we left East End Park somewhat deflated after the result on Wednesday night, and no wonder as Magic Mushroom had kindly told us the half time score at Fir Park! Cheers mate!

So where do we go from here? I can’t even start to imagine the language used in the dressing room after the game, but no matter how many times the riot act is read by Hegarty the fact remains that we’ve nothing in reserve to replace what was on display in Fife.

I bumped into one of the other Weegie Arabs at half time (before I met LeeArab and introduced her to half the crowd that is) and he’d been to watch the under-21s play at Kilmarnock as he lives down there. “If you think there’s anything in the way of a defence there”, he commented. “Think again – their defending is even worse than the first team.”

And that is the crux of the matter – our defence.

Excited as I am trying to get myself over the thought of Billy “the messiah” Dodds returning to appear in a Tangerine shirt after his sojourn in a more unpleasant orange top, I just can’t help thinking that a defender is what we really need.

One rumour involves Thommo going to Ibrox in exchange for Dodds AND Malcolm, and although I think it may just be that (a rumour) it might help matters.

So after all that ranting what about Saturday? Well injuries loom with reports of Wilson and Lauchlan both being unfit and that leaves Hegarty in a quandary. What does he do? Recall the not so colossal McGowne? Play McCunnie at centre-half? Answers on a postcard to P. Hegarty Esq. c/o Tannadice Park.

But my infamous optimism peels are making a comeback and (yet again some of you cynics may say) I fancy us to take all three points from Hibs to record our first home win of the season.

The decision as to whether to drop Thommo is another that must be vexing for the manager. Despite being offered United’s best ever player deal he has, for the right or wrong reasons, decided to seek pastures new. I’m still as I write of the opinion that the sooner he leaves the better, but whether we like it or not he’s our most likely goal scorer, and for that reason alone I think his place in the team will be retained.

Prediction? 3-0 to United!
