Brewster Now Linked With Manager's Post

[UPDATE – ICT AGREE TO LET BREWSTER GO IF UNITED WANT HIM]

Craig Brewster, former Dundee United hero after his winner in the Scottish Cup Final in 1994, is ‘locked in talks’ with the club at the time of writing (Weds am), and looks odds on favourite to take the vacant managerial post with United

It was initially believed that Inverness Caledonian Thistle had refused the club permission to talk to Craig, but that situation is believed to have been resolved.

There are other names still in the running, notably Terry Butcher, though it looks as if Eddie Thompson is set to name Brewster – though nothing is as yet confirmed. Brewster is recently quoted as saying “Speculation will always link me with Dundee United, because I'm a Dundee boy and an ex-Dundee United player and especially because I have done well here.

"But I am here [ICT] as manager and it is as simple as that."

He would also be given a lot longer period of grace than any outsider by the Dundee United faithful.

One thing is for sure – there have been rumblings of disgruntlement amongst the fans for months recently, with many saying they were not coming back. The return of the Dundee born and bred legend, should make many fans think again and return to Tannadice in hope of seeing the ex-player’s days relived as a manager.

However, we’ll have to wait till at least next year to have a crack at any of the cup competitions!

As we said above – it’s all speculation at the moment – and well keep you posted here at United Mad as soon as we here anything – though the best place to pick up the latest hot tips is still on the messageboard.
