Tonight's the night...

Won’t go into the details now (too many eager cut ‘n paste merchants out there) but had a dream about the outcome of tonight’s game and woke up feeling a weird mixture of nervous and hopeful.

We KNOW we’re good enough to beat Rangers. We KNOW we deserve something to reward all the progress we’ve made as a team over the past couple of seasons. We also know though, if we want to win this tie tonight we have to give that something extra too. Beating either of the Old Firm always does require that additional focus, application and imagination than usual…I guess that’s why it usually feels that little bit more special on the occasions we do get one over on them.

We have an incredibly full-on end to the season approaching with the forthcoming games against Motherwell and Hibs and hopefully finally bag ourselves a long elusive European place. That said, there’s something magical about the cup, the Scottish Cup in particular, as it’s really the main chance of glory for any of us out with the Glasgow gruesome-twosome to get their hands on silverware. That’s a sad, long-term state of affairs but such is the stitch-up in Scottish football in recent history.

What we need tonight is stout hears, focussed minds and a little bit of magic and guile and the game is there to take…it all depends on how much we want it and how hard we’re willing to work to make sure we get it.

Houstie has done wonders to keep the team spirit strong and the Arab support will make a huge difference tonight and give the players the lift they need, Come on United…make this our year…please.
