Season ticket for the shops! Im no paying two quid for that!

The heading of this article may have most of you thinking what the hell is he on about? Bear with me and all will be revealed now. Today(Saturday) I spent with the wife and kids touring round the shops in the city centre. Now don’t get me wrong, the fact that I was with the wife and kids is a blessing but this is what the close season is all about. Guys like me, hopelessly addicted to football, spend their Saturday afternoons wandering round shops, taking kids to the park etc. This is all great brownie-point scoring and as I said above, it has the benefits of sharing time with the family but come on… we are men. Saturdays are for football, look in the bible, it says it there someplace between the bit about woman always being naked and testicles being for scratching.

Anyway the point of the article, before I wander too far into male fantasy land (I also write articles for another site under the name of Busty Betty- actually that is just a joke okay?), is that I am amazed at these guys that say to me ‘oh im not getting a season ticket to watch that rubbish’.  If United played with an auld can and used jumpers as goalposts, I’d still go to watch them. Football is in your blood. You either love the game or hate it. There is no middle ground. Do not get me wrong I am not knocking these boys, well okay I am they must be mad. It is four weeks to the start of the new season and I cannot wait. If Smiffy goes out and signs 11 traffic cones and announces they are his starting line up, I’ll still be up there singing and chanting for them. I guess what im saying is for those of you out there who have not bought a season ticket or are swaying as to whether or not to buy one, get up there and buy one!!!! If this article saves one man from the horrors of Saturday shopping then it will have accomplished something. United need us, we need them, it is really that simple.

There is one other word of warning for those of who have enjoyed spending Saturday afternoons in the pub during the close season and feel it will be a good idea to do it during the season. DON’T!!! you know yourselfs, once the football season starts, sitting in the pub listening or watching the scores is hellish. You wish you were at the game, you sweat profusely when the United score is about to be announced, you despair at hearing united have been beaten, and despair even more at hearing they have won by 4 goals. It is an empty existence, the pain of which is only softened by hearing that Dundee have been beaten yet again. I realise there are people out there who cannot afford season tickets or perhaps can’t make every game for whatever reason and this article is not aimed at you, it is aimed at the guys that think shopping on Saturday afternoon is good, its not!!! Get out and get your season tickets and lets make supporting United a joy this year!
