Nil-Nil Stalemate In Game United Coulda Shoulda Won

United drew with Hibees last night to take them, ever-so-briefly, into the dizzy heights of the top six.

Results this evening (Wednesday) see United now in 7th on goal difference, on equal points, 27, with Hibs and Motherwell, who tonight trounced our arch rivals 5-3 at Fir park.

Several United players’ performances were raved about on the messageboard here, notably McCracken, Miller and Wilson, though the general feeling is that a win was deserved in what was a strong all-round performance by United.

Whether we’ll be in the top six after the next three games will be a stern test of United’s mettle however, as we meet Hearts away, sandwiched by both sides of the Old Firm! Points will be difficult to get, so hopefully any strong performances like last night’s will be rewarded with draws or,dare I say it – victories!

It’s a long time since we beat either of the OF. We haven’t beaten Celtic since 1999, Rangers in the league since 2000, and Hearts since, well, earlier this season actually. So some hope there.

There’s nine games left till the top six/bottom six split – and we have every chance of being there or thereabouts – which is a definite improvement on recent seasons. Ian McCall seems to be doing a decent job, and the table and performances speak for themselves. It’s a pity we had harsh draws in both cups, especially Pars away in the Scottish – surely one of the toughest draws a team could get. I quite fancied us to do well in the cups this year. Never mind – there’s always next year!

Onwards and Upwards.
