CAN UNITED RAISE THEIR GAME TOMORROW?

If the truth be told, United are a good and a bad side. Good last time we played Aberdeen for example, not so good on Tuesday night away to ICT.

Also, what are normally excuses are in fact true this season for the Tangerines. Some crazy refereeing decisions, which have contributed to us losing both derbies (again) and an injury hitlist no manager will be the envy of. That said, we are still not firing on all cylinders unless there seems to be some motivation already attached to the game, eg a ‘new firm derby, an actual derby or whenever we play a supposed ‘decent’ team. Why is it we play better against better opposition? (Excluding Dundee, who in my opinion are staring relegation straight in the face).

One of my major gripes over Alex Smith was his apparent lack of ability to motivate the players, especially for less glamorous fixtures. Has McCall fallen into the same trap? We never seem to play well against the likes of Killie, Motherwell, Livi etc, but always seem to raise our game for Dundee, Hearts, Aberdeen and so on. I think McCall needs to look at this and solve it, as the less glamorous ones are the ones we need to win. It’s where the points to climb the table will come from.

So can United beat Aberdeen tomorrow? If they play like they did on Tuesday night then no. But we won’t. It’s a bigger game and United will raise their game as they always do. I just wish they’d raise every week, then we might start heading into the right half of the league table – the top half!!
